Do I need an app or a charger?
No. Hero Link has no battery and needs no app. Any NFC-enabled smartphone can read it with a tap, and your profile opens in the browser.
Will Hero Link work with my phone?
Most phones from the last several years can read it. iPhone XS and newer read it automatically, iPhone 7, 8 and X use the NFC Tag Reader button in Control Center, and Android phones need NFC turned on. Check your phone →
What happens when someone taps my bracelet?
Their phone opens your emergency profile: allergies, blood type, conditions, history and emergency contacts. From your profile, they can alert your emergency contacts with one button.
Will first responders know to look for my Hero Link?
Not always, and we want to be upfront about that. NFC medical IDs are still new to many first responders and hospitals, so we can't promise that every responder will notice or tap your Hero Link. To give yourself the best chance:
- Keep a Hero Link wallet card behind your driver's license, where people usually look for ID.
- Tell family, caregivers and coworkers that you wear or carry Hero Link.
- Set a clear pinned alert, so the most important thing shows first.
- Share our responder training with your local agencies.
Who can see my information, and is it secure?
Hero Link is HIPAA compliant and your data is encrypted, and you choose what goes in your profile. It only opens when a phone is tapped right against your Hero Link, the person has to confirm it's an emergency first, and every view is logged with their IP address and location.
What if I lose my Hero Link?
Log in to your portal and freeze it, so nothing is shown if someone taps it. Or turn on Lost & found, so whoever finds it sees only your name, email and phone to return it to you.
Can I wear it in the shower or pool?
Yes. Hero Link is fully waterproof and maintenance-free. [VERIFY – any guidance for hot tubs, saunas or chlorine]
How long does it last?
The NFC chip is rated for 100,000 taps — about 10 taps a day for 26 years. [ANSWER NEEDED – band lifespan and warranty]
Can I update my profile later?
Yes — anytime, anywhere, and changes are instant. Add a new condition, allergy or contact whenever life changes.
