If they get lost, they may not be able to explain
A person with dementia may become confused, wander or be unable to answer simple questions. The National Institute on Aging advises caregivers:
“Make sure the person carries some kind of ID or wears a medical bracelet…”
Warning signs of wandering
- Returning from a regular walk or drive later than usual.
- Forgetting how to get to familiar places.
- Trying or wanting to "go home" even when at home.
- Appearing lost in a new or changed environment.

Dementia and Hero Link, answered
Still unsure? Our team is made of people who've worked the calls.
Does Hero Link have GPS or tracking?
No. Hero Link doesn't track location. It makes sure that whoever finds your loved one can tap to see who they are, their health information and who to call.
Can I manage my parent's profile?
Yes. With Hero Link® PRO family management, you can manage their profile from your own account and update it anytime.
What should I put in the pinned alert?
The one thing a stranger should know first. For example: "I have Alzheimer's. I may be confused. Please stay with me and call my daughter."
Can it be worn in the shower or the pool?
Yes. The bracelet is 100% waterproof and safe in heat and cold, and the chip has no battery to charge.
Do responders need an app?
No. Any NFC-enabled smartphone can tap the bracelet to open the profile, with no app or account. See which phones work.
Will first responders know to look for my Hero Link?
Not always, and we want to be upfront about that. NFC medical IDs are still new to many first responders and hospitals, so we can't promise that every responder will notice or tap your Hero Link. To give yourself the best chance:
- Keep a Hero Link wallet card behind your driver's license, where people usually look for ID.
- Tell family, caregivers and coworkers that you wear or carry Hero Link.
- Set a clear pinned alert, so the most important thing shows first.
- Share our responder training with your local agencies.
Is their medical information private?
Profiles are HIPAA compliant and encrypted, and you decide what's on them. If the bracelet is lost, you can freeze it anytime from your account.
Ready to give your family peace of mind?
Built by current and former first responders and medical professionals.
Hero Link® shows the information you choose to add. It doesn't track location or replace advice from your loved one's doctor.
