Out there alone, who speaks for you?
You leave your wallet at home and your phone is locked. If you're hurt on a ride, run or hunt, responders start from zero. The American Diabetes Association's exercise safety tips say:
“Wear a medical identification bracelet, necklace, or a medical ID tag”
What NHTSA's 2024 data shows
- NHTSA counts anyone walking, running, jogging or hiking near traffic as a pedestrian.
- In 2024, a pedestrian was killed every 74 minutes and injured every 7 minutes.
- 76% of pedestrian deaths in 2024 happened in the dark.
- Nearly 1 in 4 pedestrians killed in 2024 were hit by hit-and-run drivers.

Active life and Hero Link, answered
Still unsure? Our team is made of people who've worked the calls.
Will it hold up to sweat, rain and cold?
Yes. The bracelet is 100% waterproof and safe in heat and cold, and the chip has no battery to charge or die.
Does it have crash detection or GPS?
No. Hero Link doesn't detect crashes or track location. It makes sure whoever helps you can see who you are, your health information and who to call.
What if my phone is locked or broken?
It doesn't matter. Your profile opens on the responder's phone, not yours. Any NFC-enabled phone can tap it.
Do responders need an app?
No. Any NFC-enabled smartphone can tap the bracelet to open the profile, with no app or account. See which phones work.
Will first responders know to look for my Hero Link?
Not always, and we want to be upfront about that. NFC medical IDs are still new to many first responders and hospitals, so we can't promise that every responder will notice or tap your Hero Link. To give yourself the best chance:
- Keep a Hero Link wallet card behind your driver's license, where people usually look for ID.
- Tell family, caregivers and coworkers that you wear or carry Hero Link.
- Set a clear pinned alert, so the most important thing shows first.
- Share our responder training with your local agencies.
Is the medical information private?
Profiles are HIPAA compliant and encrypted, and you decide what's on them. If a bracelet is lost, you can freeze it anytime from your account.
Ready to ride with your info?
Built by current and former first responders and medical professionals.
Hero Link® shows the information you choose to add. It doesn't detect crashes, track location or replace advice from your doctor.
